Three public workshops will be conducted at key points throughout this project. Each meeting is anticipated to begin with an informal open house session. During the open house component, Project Team members will be available to talk with the public in a one-on-one, informal atmosphere. Following each open house session, a formal presentation and/or meeting activity will be conducted.
Public Workshop #1: Explain the purpose and function of the JLUS, provide an overview of the military operations at NWS Seal Beach, introduce project participants, share the JLUS approach and discuss the JLUS goals. The format of this meeting will include a presentation to the public followed by an interactive working session where attendees will be invited and encouraged to share their input on potential JLUS compatibility issues. A user-friendly Standard Compatibility Factors Fact Sheet will be distributed at this workshop to provide the public with a tool for completing the compatibility issues exercise.
Public Workshop #2: Present and refine preliminary compatibility issues and review existing policies and regulations for possible inclusion in recommendations and strategies. The JLUS Strategy Toolbox brochure will be distributed as part of this workshop and will be made available for download on the website for the public’s information.
Public Workshop #3: Present Public Draft JLUS and begin the public comment period. The presentation will explain the overall JLUS methodology, including the identification of issues and strategies. The public will then have an opportunity to provide feedback and comments at the meeting and through the project website.
As workshop dates and locations are set, information and meeting materials will be posted on this page. As the project progresses, links to the agendas and materials from previous meetings will be posted here for easy access and remain here for the duration of the project.
